Instructors Love This Computer Lab Arrangement

Officials at Ivy Tech State College, Lafayette Indiana, say that of the several different computer lab arrangements used in their new building (Ivy Hall), this is the one that many instructors prefer.

Note that each student has use of two desks; one desk has the monitor, keyboard and mouse; the opposite-facing desk is completely clear.

Advantages?

1) The instructor can see what each student has up on his/her monitor because the monitors face the instructor.

2) When the instructor wants to show something on the large screen at the front of the room, the students swivel their chairs around - away from their monitors - and then have the clear desk for taking notes. The instructor can then keep good eye contact with them and... their eyes don't drift onto their monitors!

A great room arrangement!
